Depending on the project, I use illustration, animation, graphic design, code and / or GIS to create informative graphics. See my work for examples. It is my goal to help organisations visualize important information in a clear, correct, and aesthetically pleasing way.
At Willem de Kooning Academy, I obtained my bachelor's degree in illustration (BDes). After graduating, I started working as an information designer, and gained experience in design studios and news rooms. My first job in journalism was at Dutch broadcaster KRO-NCRV. Thereafter, I started working at De Correspondent as an information designer. My love for information design has led me to other endeavours as well: after working hours, I studied ‘Geographical Information Science’ at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam (parttime master). And after five years of working fulltime at De Correspondent, I felt it was time for a new challenge: I decided to take on freelance jobs as well.
